The qualifiers along with several invited guests gathered at Al Badia Golf Club for the much awaited Officeland Monthly Open Finals 2011. The course was setup longer and tougher than in the qualifying rounds, following the combined strokeplay ¾ handicap format.

Officeland and Al Badia Golf Club congratulated the Al Badia members, Minseok Jahng and Peter Yang for becoming the Champions of this prestigious golfing event. The pair won the finals by 5 shots with a combined nett score of 146. It took the pair to place great efforts to win the beautiful Officeland trophy and a voucher of AED2000 from Al Aqili Furnishing.  Jahng and Yang played consistently throughout the round without any mistakes and on the back 9 the pair got into their stride with Yang making a birdie on the tough 12th hole and between them playing the last 7 holes in one under par.

The second place trophy was taken by Matthew Thompson and Adam Gray with a score of 151 and along with their trophies a voucher of AED 1500.  There was some great golf played by the pair of single figure golfers who played the Par 5’s in one under. Consistency was definitely the key in the tough conditions.

The third place winner was the team of Matt Hederics and Mr. Philip Westphal who took with their trophies a voucher of AED 1000. The pair was only 2 shots of second with a score of 153. Westphal had a fantastic round playing well under his handicap making 6 gross pars in a row between the 7th -9th holes. While Hederics played the Par 4’s well to make it a great team effort!

Interesting results were drawn from the on course special events. Nearest the pin were set on holes 7 and 11 and longest drive competition was set on holes 4 and 12. Holes 4 and 7 were sponsored by Titleist with the winners, Brett Armstrong for longest drive and John Allen for nearest the pin, received some Titleist goodies for their achievements. Mark Holmans won the longest drive on the 12th hole with an outstanding drive of 307 yards. The nearest the pin on the 11th hole went to Ross Mclean with a shot to within 6 feet of the hole.
The interesting day’s play finished at the Shaheen Terrace for the awards ceremony were the participants gathered to celebrate the victories of the winning pairs. Tim Neil, Al Badia Golf Club Golf Service Manager provided the opening remarks and Shariar Khodjasteh the Marketing Director of Al Aqili Furnishing presented his thank you speech before presenting the prizes. He was grateful for everyone who became a part of the event and for Al Badia Golf Club in providing a fantastic course and venue, contributing to the overall success if this tournament series. He has delightfully announced the continuation of the Officeland Monthly Series for the golfing year, 2011-2012 with the next qualifying round scheduled on the first Friday of next month.
