March 5th marked another challenge-filled day for the Al Badia Golf Club members who participated in the Monthly Medal competition, as they approached the course over very blustery and hazy weather conditions.
Impressive performances were evident with the contenders of the A and B Divisions. It was a close finish for Kieran O’Connor who after a slow start battled through the wind to score par on 6 holes and finish nett 73, securing victory in the A Division after a countback with Lynn Cimino.
In the B division, Leslie Reis’s nett 74 was just enough to hold onto the winners title, forcing Scott Walton to settle into the runner up position with nett 76. Leslie had rocky start in his round but came to win in the division after scoring par in holes 9, 11 and 12, and achieving a birdie on hole 14.
On course competition prizes were awarded to Robert David for his nearest the pin shot on hole 15 and Mark Holman’s longest drive on hole 9.
Congratulations to Chet Riley, who after the magnificent effort in finishing his round with a score of nett 70, secured himself the crown of the overall winner. Birdies on holes 4 and 7, and several pars on the back nine are some of the remarkable highlights for this Monthly Medal champion.
