Jenny Ayres’ captain’s day produced a huge turnout of 116 competitors who competed in a stableford format over a modified Majlis course.
The course was shortened to a par 65 to cater for the impressive field size and to make sure lunch was served on time!
The tournament itself produced some fantastic scoring with Thea Hendrickx recording 50 stableford points to clinch Silver Division (handicap 0-23). Two shots adrift was Mego Han in runners-up place with Janine Craig a further two shots back in third.
Some unbelievable scores were recorded in Bronze Division (handicap 24-42) with Brigitte Tindborg signing for the best of the day 60 point tally. Carol Ann Wood took second on 52 with Margaret Breen third on 49.
The day started with Captain Jenny’s traditional drive in and in front of 116 of her fellow members and with Scottish music in the back ground, her nerves stood the test by smashing her driver 181 yards down the middle of the first fairway.
Also in the prizes were Sita Mahabier, Rosemary Turlik, Jane Jones and Thea Hendrickx for their performances on the nearest the pin holes. Rekha Bandopadhyay recorded 46 points to take the prize for best past captain. Jane Jones clinched the best guest score of the day with a 40-point tally.
During her captains speech Jenny commented that ‘152 ladies have competed on Monday mornings over the season comprising of 37 nationalities, a record to proud of in the best club in Dubai’.
