Seung In Lee produced an emphatic display in the 2nd SAIF Zone Sharjah CupāØto take the title by an unprecedented 16 points.

Meanwhile at the other end of the scoreboard the first round cut fell at 23āØpoints with Simon McDonald (ARGC) coming in the 52nd and final qualifyingāØplace by virtue of a scorecard playoff. Ā 12 players missed the cut from a 64āØstrong field.āØ
Day 2 proved much tougher playing conditions as strong winds and a shamalāØmade the 7,000 yard layout play at its most testing. The only player in theāØtop 10 who was able to better their score was leader S. I. Lee who, off a 20āØhandicap index produces a flawless 43 points and an emphatic victory.āØ

Martin Duff, Director of Golf at SGSC commented “What a fantasticallyāØexciting weekend it proved to be. The cut stimulates interest at both endsāØof the scoreboard day 1. Ā On day 2 the live leader boards and having theāØleaders paired together and teeing off last made for a real tournamentāØatmosphere few higher handicap golfers get to experience. Ā If Mr Lee hadn’tāØbeen in such imperious form it would have been quite a battle for the title.āØHis 43 point days 2, considering the conditions, was phenomenal. Ā OurāØcongratulations to him on a fine victory and of course our thanks to the 60+āØplayers who spend their weekend with us and of course loyal event sponsorsāØSAIF Zone”.
