The Andrews Golf Society team of Andrew Morley and Andrew Thom proved they were not just showing up to make the numbers as they claim the 6th edition of the SGSC Golf Society Cup played on Saturday 27th September sponsored by Crystal Gallery.
In a nearly full field which included 20 plus pairings, made up of 14 different societies the Andrew’s returned nines of 34 & 31 (nett 65) to walk away with the title by just two shots from their nearest rivals.
With the next team of Sport 360 returning nett 67 with the new partnership of Jon Gould and Peter Shilling who found themselves in amongst the prizes. John Gould of Sport 360 is no stranger to winning the Golf Society Cup, but this year the duo will have to settle for second position.
The pair who was representing the second 360 Team, which included past winner Rory Thomson and Ian Plant, dovetailed extremely well over their second nine to secure another trophy to their cabinet on the count back ruling. Their 33 nett back nine pushed Massin Golf Society to 4th position on the day.
With the Conares Golf Society League just around the corner, the Golf Society Cup enabled both team captains and players the chance to mingle ahead of the much anticipated series of society matches.
